【English Translation】 The Guru Yoga of the Great Abbot and His Sons: A Shower of Blessings If a wise person wishes to practice the profound Guru Yoga, they should first take refuge and generate the two aspects of bodhichitta. Ah! Above the crown of my head, where my ordinary body abides, Upon a precious lion throne, a lotus, and a moon cushion, Sits the great treasure of compassion, the embodiment of all refuges, The only son of the Shakya clan, the Great Abbot Shantarakshita. Adorned with the robes and pandita hat of a monastic, His right hand teaches the Dharma, his left holds a scripture. And his supreme spiritual sons, such as Padmasambhava, in various forms, Possessing the qualities of upholding, preserving, and spreading the Buddha's teachings. All the learned and accomplished panditas of India and Tibet, Reside there as densely packed as sesame seeds in a pod. From the boundless realms of the ten directions, wisdom beings, Are all invited in the form of the Guru, With pure faith, appearing clearly in the sky, Becoming inseparable from the object of meditation. I prostrate respectfully with countless gestures, Offering clouds of offerings that fill the vast sky. I confess and reveal all the sins and downfalls accumulated since beginningless time. I rejoice in all the virtues of ordinary and noble beings. I urge you to turn the wheel of the profound and vast Dharma. I beseech you not to pass into nirvana, but to remain as the protector of beings. And I dedicate all the accumulations of merit to supreme enlightenment. You are the youthful Manjushri, the lord of wisdom and power; You are the great treasure of love, the very Avalokiteshvara; You are the lord of might, strength, and power, Vajrapani. I pray to the Guru who is inseparable from the three families. You pioneered the tradition of uniting the excellent teachings of the two great chariots, The single ornament on the crown of all the learned ones of India, Rising like the crest of a victory banner, I pray to you. In the dark gloom of untamable Tibet, You made the sun of the Buddha's teachings shine clearly, And you vowed to protect it again and again. I pray to you, whose kindness is unparalleled. If I meditate perfectly on your sacred form on my crown, The pure discipline of the Sangha will increase. If I meditate on you in my heart, I will attain supreme wisdom. I pray to you, who possess this true promise. In these degenerate times, when the Buddha's teachings have declined, And the Sangha is extremely weak, Remember me and the supreme teacher (Shakyamuni Buddha), And I will protect you,' you said in vajra words. Therefore, to you, the infallible protector, I pray like a child longing for its mother. With compassionate hands, please protect Those afflicted by the degenerate age and the decline of the teachings.

【English Translation】 With utmost devotion, I pray: May the boundless realms of all Buddhas, And all the embodiments who uphold the sacred Dharma of the Tathagatas, O Protector, may the clouds of your blessings, Appear in the sky of the faithful mind. May I sharpen my gaze to perceive the profound meaning of Madhyamaka, Adorn myself with the pure garment of immaculate discipline, Fully possess the strength of excellent Samadhi, And thereby serve the teachings of the Tathagatas. May the Sangha, skilled in the three pitakas and endowed with the three trainings, Increase like the waxing moon. May the supreme teachings of exposition and practice, Expand like the rivers in summer. May I, like Samantabhadra and Manjushri, Hold all the treasures of the Tathagatas' Dharma, Perfect the endless ocean of maturation, liberation, and purification, And swiftly attain the state of the victorious Buddhas. May I never stray from this intention, visualizing the root guru and their retinue above my crown, their bodies radiating wisdom light that dissolves into me, blessing my body, speech, and mind.
